My couponing buddy Shannon e-mailed me this great article entitled “Doing the Math On Coupons”. I'm so glad she did, because as people constantly tell me they don't have the time to clip coupons, I just can't imagine not taking the time to clip coupons!
On average, I save $100 a week by using coupons and shopping based on the current sales ad. It takes me about an hour to clip my coupons, so I make almost $100 for my little hour of clipping. (That's $400 a month, or $5200 a year – WOW!) And, I have a HUGE stockpile of food, so I rarely need to go to the store for anything! As a stay-at-home mom, this savings allows me to more easily stay home with my kids, skip paying childcare, and enjoy abundance that I didn't have back in those pre-couponing days.
That said, it does take some time and commitment to start clipping coupons. And, there are many times when I work so hard to get all my coupons together for a deal just to find the deal doesn't work when I get to the store (arghhhhhh!), or is gone because too many people snagged all the deals first (I know Publix gives rain checks, but this still makes me crazy!) Overall though, it is undoubtedly worth my time to clip a few coupons, and while I understand it's not for everyone, I've found it to be an awesome return on my time. Be sure to go HERE to read more on this, and thanks Shannon for the great read!
