This recipe is probably in my top ten favorite recipes that I've posted so far (maybe even top 5, right up there with Chicken Tortilla Soup and Honey Bun Cake!) It's so good and really easy, even if you make the dough from scratch!
And, when you make the dough, you'll get quite a little arm workout in with that 5 minutes of kneading dough! (I had to turn my air conditioner on because I was working so hard – really! I'm obviously in pitiful shape – but you can't beat dinner and a workout all rolled into one!) You could easily pick up some pre-made pizza dough, but it was fun to make it from scratch and took only ten minutes to make. You could also try some of the pre-made Publix dough found in the Publix bakery – it costs $2.99 and I've only had it once but it is really good. A little pricy but a quick yummy treat if you're up for it!
Here's what you'll need . . .
For the pizza dough – Adapted from OrgJunkie
1 tablespoon yeast
$.40/1 Fleischmann's from 3/21 SS
For the toppings . . .
Barbecue Sauce (I used the Kraft Thick'n Spicy Honey)
Kraft Barbecue Sauce BOGO $1.48
Perdue Short Cuts Chicken (I used the Honey Roasted)
On Sale $3, look for $1/1 Peelie
Publix Brand On Sale $2, if you don't have any in your Stockpile!
Cover pizza pie in barbecue sauce (I used about 1/2 cup). Tear up half of the package of Perdue Shortcuts and add to pizza (you could use more, but I felt like we had plenty of chicken with just half of the pouch). Add 1 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Bake at 450 for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
