Any Suggestions On How To Frugally Host A Luau or Beach Themed Birthday

See how to make this cute cake at Parents Magazine

I received a question yesterday asking how to frugally host a beach or luau theme birthday party, and I’d love to hear your ideas!  Here was Heather’s question . . .

I’m looking for creative inexpensive ideas for a beach/luau theme bday party. Can you please ask the readers for suggestions? So far im making a shark head watermelon, kabobs, ocean punch, jello with gummy fish, dip with octopus bell pepper and sunflower cheese tray. Thanks!!

If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them! Please leave a comment to share your tips. 🙂

  1. I am doing the same theme for my son. For goody bags I’m getting sand buckets (unless I find something cuter for $1) and filling it with dive sticks (break them up so each kid gets 1), gummy fish, bubbles and hopefully some other pool/beach toys that are on sale.

Check the Dollar Store, they might have some fun beach themed things for cheap. You could also make some sort of “sand”wich if you need another food idea.

  3. Clarissa says: She just threw her daughter a Luau themed party for her 10th birthday.

  4. Tara D. says:

I was thinking about doing this theme for my little girl’s upcoming party as well. It just so happens I saw some luau themed goodies for $1 each at the Target in Bristol today. They had luau themed silly straws, plastic straws with paper cutouts on the end (flamingoes and such), they had some paper cups and napkins, and they had some super cut coconut cups, and even lei’s…all for $1 each. They had some other things too. It might be worth a shot to look at ur local Target! At my store it was not up front with the dollar section, it was near the candy in the seasonal aisles. Good luck!

  5. I know that Oriental Trading Company has tons of Luau themed party favors and decorations at great prices. Here is a direct link…
