Have You Antique Shopped Lately?

This chalkboard table was $69

A few weeks ago while visiting my dad in Louisville, Kentucky, he took me to the most fun antique store (Sugar Babes Antiques ~ you can check them out here on Facebook) and they had so many wonderful items for sale, at incredible prices!  Like I shared last week, there are tons of items you can find secondhand for a fraction of retail prices, and so many of them make for some really fun shabby chic decorating.  Here’s what we found while we were there . . .

This cute oval table for just $59 (I think I’m a tad obsessed with this shade of blue. . . see HERE, HERE, HERE and even HERE)

this bright yellow stool for $45 (I wish I had room for it in my kitchen!)

This old refrigerator was so fun, but I forgot to get the price (oops!)

My favorite find was this table for just $89 including the leaf and two chairs ~ such a great deal, and would be such a fun starter set if you were just starting out!

I also loved this simple print for $23

And this cane chair with so much character was just $35

Have you found any penny pinched furniture at a local thrift store, antique store, or yard sale? If so, I’d love to share your pictures! Send me an email at contact@passionatepennypincher . com (leave out the spaces), and if I share photos of you finds here on PPP you’ll get an $10 Amazon gift card.

In case you happen to be in the Louisville, Kentucky area, you can visit SugarBabe Antiques at 7511 Highway 329 in Crestwood, KY 40014.  They had so many unique items, and I definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area!

  1. Oh my goodness, my grandma had that EXACT stool in her kitchen (same color and everything!!). I am sure I sat on that stool and watched her cook a hundred dinners over the years. And I used to flip the seat up and stand on it to help dry the dishes after dinner.

  2. Hi 🙂 Hope everyone’s having a great couponing week 🙂 I’ve found so many great deals this week…I just really wish that retailers would teach their cashiers more about couponing. I’m fairly new at this, that is I’ve only been couponing since this past March, but God has shown me so many ways to save money through sites like this. I’m so very thankful for that. I really, really try to keep my cool but when you shop three or four times a week for great deals and the cashiers put you under a microscope, it gets harder and harder to keep that smile 🙂 I just don’t understand it. Why do the cashiers put the coupons under a microscope so often? That takes alot more time than to just scan the coupon. Aren’t coupons, for the most part, entered into the system already? And if they don’t scan then, I could understand a cashier refusing them, but I’ve rarely had a problem with a coupon. Yet I find myself explaining couponing to cashiers all the time. I don’t like getting knots in my stomach when I go to check out. LOL…it’s really not funny, but what else can be done? Oh well, just yacking lol…I really love the deals I find and truly thankful for each and everyone. I’m getting ready to donate alot, which is the greatest part of this. Up to now, I’ve been giving and giving to my family, but I think even they have enough “stuff” now too 🙂 which is wonder. I really want to make a difference in people who really have a great need for the “extra” stuff. Well, chin up I guess…have a wonderful weekend and God bless you….

  3. Part 2…lol

I forgot to write what I really got on here to write 🙂 I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that it seems when a great coupon like the McCormick q comes out, that once they run out of that product, the retailers either don’t reorder, or even discontinue that particular product. Like my store, I got several of the spices, but when I asked them to reorder them, I was told they were discontinuing them. It’s not the first time. The Lance crackers that are still out there in other stores, have been discontinued as well at the store I shop. Kind of strange. Just wondered if anyone has had this experience. Well, this is part two of my book …lol…have a great day! God bless…and thanks Penny…such a great site…love it!

    • Hi Cathy! It sounds like you’ve had quite a week of couponing! Depending on your store, some places just aren’t concerned about re-stocking the coupon items (Walmart seems to be really bad about that.) You can always ask the manager to re-order, however it’s hard sometimes for that to happen at the larger big box stores. But if you shop a regular grocery, it’s definitely worth asking (and be sure to always ask for a raincheck!)

      Hope that helps 🙂

  4. That yellow kitchen stool…we had one when I was little (different color). Wish I had one now! Love it!

  5. There is a cool place on University Drive called “University Pickers Antique Mall.” Lots of retro stuff and shabby chic makeovers.

  6. Oooohhhk, I’ve got to check that place out Joy! I haven’t really antiqued much here in Huntsville (a little out in Athens), but may have to start making a trip every few weeks. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  7. You will love it! When my hubby and I aren’t thrift store shopping, we are antique shopping. There is also a great consignment furniture store next door. We have gotten many things there.
