If you have little ones and haven't made it to the library yet this summer, I highly recommend a trip. Even if you don't have kids at all (or your kids are a bit older. . .) the library is a great resource for free books, movies and more.
I took my kids today and they loved perusing the book section, and I loved finding books by a few of my favorite authors too! (I was really hoping to find this one but it was out ~ one of my favorite light summer reads.)
If you're here in the Madison City, Alabama area, Madison offers a great outdoor play and reading area that my kids loved checking out. (My oldest wanted to spend just a few minutes more reading out there!)
They even had a scavenger hunt that you could use to keep your kiddos busy while they checked out all of the special areas of the garden.
Don't forget most libraries also carry a huge selection of DVDs to borrow . . .
As well as special summer programs for kids . . .
As we were leaving, we noticed they were popping popcorn for free summer movies, and we were pretty tempted to stay awhile longer.
My favorite library-going tip is to make sure to keep up with a library bag for all your books so that you don't lose them. I keep my library card there too, so it's handy when we head out!
Do you visit your local library often, and have you found other special treats because you're a member? I'd love to hear any suggestions you have!
