Aldi Ad: 3/4/15-3/10/15

Here are deals in our local Aldi’s ad here starting 3/4/15.  If you live in another city, you’ll want to verify that the prices at your local Aldi are the same by viewing your online weekly ad over HERE, and check out the complete Aldi Ad before you shop.

Here are a few tips to remember before shopping at Aldi’s:

  • Aldi’s accepts ONLY cash, debit or EBT cards.
  • Aldi’s requires you to bring your own bags (or you can purchase them for $.06 per bag at the store.)
  • You’ll need to pay a quarter to use a cart at Aldi’s. When you return the cart, you’ll get the quarter back.
  • Aldi’s does not accept manufacturer coupons (however they have had a few Aldi’s Store coupons recently in a few local papers.)
  • As far as I can tell, the Aldi’s sale ad varies by store. To view your store’s ad, go HERE.

Here’s what I grabbed on my Publix Trip this week for $37 plus tax, while saving $72.  There were some great deals on produce in addition to the in-ad savings.

I was super thankful ~ while I shopped the lady who stocks the dairy department went out of her way to find me a peelie for the Kraft cheese.  Who does that? ;)  I told her I was too cheap to buy it without a coupon, and she said she’d just put out a bunch of peelies on some of them but not all of the products ~ loove those simple acts of coupon kindness!  Makes me want to go out and do something for someone else also. :)

Here’s what I bought:

Bought 5 lb Potatoes $3.99

Bought 1 Lipton Recipe Starters $1.50

  • Used $2 Off wyb Lipton Recipe Starters and Potatoes (over 3 lb)

{easy} Two Step Monkey Bread

Looking for more penny pinched recipes? Here you go!

I was all set to share this amazing recipe for a pork roast with you today (you can find the recipe HERE – it really was delicious but took an extra 30 minutes to cook through.)

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 1.00.50 PM

However, from what I can tell people get a little more excited about easy Monkey Bread than they ever would about a pork roast, so I decided to share this super simple recipe for Monkey Bread today instead.

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 12.58.50 PM

(No idea how to get a pretty picture of this girl because she just makes ridiculous faces every single time, but she was happy with the monkey bread idea too!)

Before my kids gobbled down the batch I made this morning in honor of the we-have-another-two-hour-delay-are-you-kidding-me-really? day, I snapped a few shots to share. It’s a miracle there was any of it left ~ I’m hoping my husband gets a tiny sliver when he gets home from work tonight! Here’s the recipe if you’d like to treat your family too . . .

{easy} Two Step Monkey Bread

  1. 3 cans biscuits
  2. 1 ½ c. brown sugar
  3. 1 ½ sticks butter or margarine
  4. 1 T cinnamon
  5. 1/2 cup white sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  6. Pam Cooking Spray

  1.  3 T butter, melted
  2. 2/3 c. confectioners’ sugar

  1. Cut biscuits into quarters and coat with cinnamon sugar mixture of 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon (at our house we put the biscuits in plastic bags and my kids shake until their heart’s content!)
  2. Melt butter; mix with brown sugar and 1 Tablespoon cinnamon.
  3. Put half of biscuits into a greased bundt pan & pour half of brown sugar mixture over it.
  4. Put remaining biscuits in bundt pan & then remaining brown sugar in bundt pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.  Top with powdered sugar glaze.

West Bend Bread Machine Lowest Price + My Favorite Bread Machine Recipe

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 12.47.02 PM

After sharing one of my favorite easy ways to save yesterday, I had several questions about which type of bread machine I use! I’ve had a West Bend Bread Machine for almost 15 years, and it’s held up wonderfully. I typically just make the dough in the machine, and then bake the bread in a loaf pan (because mine makes a little squatty square loaf, which doesn’t look all that appetizing!)

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 12.48.07 PM

Here’s the recipe we used last night for Macaroni Grill’s Rosemary Bread in the bread machine – my kids said they like it better than Macaroni Grill!

I noticed Amazon just dropped the price on this West Bend Programmable 2.5 pound Bread Machine to $69.95, which is the lowest price it’s ever been at. It has good reviews, and ships free with Amazon Prime or Free Super Saver Shipping. Here are a few product features:

  • 12 pre-programmed settings, 3 crust color selectors, 3 loaf sizes up to 2.5 lbs.
  • Dual-knead blades for thorough dough kneading and higher rise in less time
  • Delayed start cycle up to 13 hours- prep in the morning, come home to fresh, warm bread
  • Gluten-free setting
  • Includes non-stock bread pan with dual knead blades, measuring cup and spoon, knead blade removal tool, bread recipe booklet with instruction manual

Go HERE to check it out, and if you’ve used another bread machine that you love I’d love to hear which model you use.   You can also check out this Cuisinart Machine for $96 – a little more pricey but worth taking a look at as well if you’ve been looking for one!
