Five Minute Challenge . . . That Yucky Area That’s Making You Nuts

Do you have one area in your home that just makes your stomach a wee bit queasy? ;)  (I wish I only had one!)  Today, hop away from that computer and spend just five minutes tackling it . . . and then see if you’re not motivated to keep right on going!

I tackled the play room today at our house (I usually just try not to go in there . . . ) and am amazed at how much more I accomplished than I expected in right around fifteen minutes.  I promise it’ll feel so good to have a little part of your mess tidied up a bit!

I’d love to hear which area you choose in your home . . . Ready, set, goooooo!

Five Minute Challenge: The Valentine’s Day Edition

So, just for fun this Valentine’s Day, I thought rather than focusing on a five minute challenge, we could splurge and take five minutes to list of all the things we just love.  Here’s what I came up with (in absolutely no specific order. . .)

  1. Coupons. :)
  2. My three sweet children  . . . they really are pretty cute!
  3. Chocolate. (Specifically, Cadbury Eggs.)
  4. Pinterest.
  5. Cozying up with my girls each night to read a book.
  6. The baby dolls & Nerf guns that litter my home.
  7. Hot showers.
  8. Several thousand of you who take time to read this crazy stuff each day (wow!)
  9. Diet Coke.
  10. My washing machine.  And my vacuum.  And especially my dishwasher.
  11. Mrs. Potts ;)
  12. A few dear friends who I can always count on to listen to me when I’m grouchy.
  13. A warm cozy bed to end each day in.
  14. My sweet hubby who knows me well enough to bring me roses for Valentine’s Day that were on sale.
  15. A God who cares abundantly for me despite the mess that I am (isn’t that just amazing?)

So what’s on your thankful Valentine’s Day list today?  You know I’d love to hear, so please leave a comment if you have a few minutes to share!

Five Minute Challenge: Sort Through Your Magazines

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? This one’s not too bad!

Stand up, walk away from your computer, and go through any stacks of magazines you have.  If you absolutely love an issue, keep it.  If not, donate them, pass them on to a friend, or recycle them!

Do you have any suggestions on where to donate magazines?  I’d love to hear them!  (And you may want to check out this super clever & frugal idea for storing magazines over HERE.  Some folks are just so smart!)

Five Minute Challenge: The Microwave

Thanks to all the great ideas over on Facebook to get me out of my cleaning slump today . . . you guys are the best!

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? Let’s take five minutes today to clean out the microwave (bleck!)  Here’s the challenge:

Stand up, walk away from the computer, and scrub your microwave!  (A great way to do this is to boil water for two minutes, then the steam will allow you to wipe down most of the gunk pretty quickly.)

Five Minute Challenge: The Door Frames

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? Oh my goodness gracious . . . I sure am!  I’ve been noticing while walking through my house that all the door frames are just gross with sweet gunky little finger prints, so it’s time to clean them up!  Here’s the challenge:

Stand up, walk away from the computer (I don’t want to either, but let’s go ahead and do it!), and grab a rag to clean those door frames. See how many you can finish in just five minutes time, and if you’re super inspired today go ahead and work for ten ninutes!

Ready, set, gooooo!  I’d love to hear how many you finish today, because I’m needing a little inspiration myself.  Happy Cleaning!

Five Minute Challenge: Your Purse

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? Here you go!

Stand up, hunt down your purse, and clean it out thoroughly. Get rid of any odd socks (really?) throw away those gum wrappers, and add a travel sized bottle of hand lotion if you have one in your pantry.  (Can you guess who else has one in her pantry needing to find a home?)

Ready, set, gooooo!  If you’re at work add it to your to-do list tonight, and it’ll feel so good to get it done.  Happy Cleaning!

Five Minute Challenge: The Car

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? Since I did this one yesterday, I figured you can work on it today!  (It really is amazing how much five minutes of work can do. . . I promise!)  Here’s today’s challenge:

Stand up, walk away from the computer, grab a grocery sack and head out to the car to throw away as much junk as you can!  Put away any items that don’t need to be thrown away, and freshen up your car a bit.

My car (a.k.a. my children’s taxi cab. . .) seems to be in a constant state of chaos, so it felt so good yesterday to take a few minutes to clean it out.  If you’re at work add it to your to-do list tonight, and it’ll feel so good when you’re all done.  Happy Cleaning!

Five Minute Challenge: Scrub Those Bathroom Mirrors & Sinks

Ready for today’s five minute challenge? Since we spent time earlier this week in the bathroom, let’s go ahead and finish the job. (So exciting, right?)  Here’s today’s challenge:

Hop away from the computer grab some cheap cleaner and a rag, and thoroughly clean your mirrors and sinks in one bathroom, tackling all the gunkies lurking behind the sink (gross!)

We all know that misery loves company, and while I usually clean my sinks every day, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a deep clean.  So, if you’re with me, feel free to leave a comment to let me know (and I’ll be more than happy to cheer you on!)  If you’re at work add it to your to-do list tonight, and it’ll feel so good when you’re all done.  Happy Cleaning!
