As I type this I need to be walking out the door to my son’s sixth grade awards ceremony.  (I’m running late as always, and I’m pretty sure he’s used to it.)  For the last twelve years of my life, I’ve been the mommy to a newborn, infant, toddler, preschooler, and even elementary schooler.  But I can hardly believe that after next week my baby (ahem . . ) will be an all-grown-up middle schooler.

On top of that, his baby sister (who really is a baby, really!!!) will be heading off to kindergarten the very same day that he starts middle school this August. (Is that even allowed?  I think all mommas should be exempt from doing both on the same day!)  I’m sad. . . I’m busy . . . and I’m a little too overwhelmed with all of it to even keep up.

I’m heading out the door though, so here I go (can’t you tell I’m walking???) Peek in on your little ones if they’re peacefully napping in your home right now, give a hug to your preschooler if they’re pulling on your leg while you try to get in a little reading, and say a prayer for your older child if they’re off in school at the moment too. It really goes too fast, doesn’t it?  Yup . . .walking out the door now (sniff…sniff…)
