See updated pics after new light fixtures over HERE.

I’m so excited about a tiny fluffin’ I did this week in about 30 minutes (that only cost $3!)

(with new light fixtures – I’m still on the fence about these!)

As I shared a few weeks ago my husband’s been adding oodles of trimwork in our foyer (it’s not quite finished yet ~ more painting to do while we’re still doing it ourselves to save $2000.)

This week though I finally got up my courage though to paint our front door after seeing a few ideas on Pinterest that I just loved.

The foyer has kind of been an area that I’ve just been so unhappy with since moving (even after the trim work, which I know is so weird?) But just $3 of paint (I used a sample from Menard’s that they mixed up for me), and 30 minutes of work had it done.

Success!

I really wanted to share all the updates after we had the new light fixtures and painting completed, but I’m just so excited and couldn’t wait. (Check out the light fixtures I got over HERE ~ I’m a little nervous about them but going for this look . . . we’ll see.)

I COULD NOT BELIEVE that 7 ounces of paint would make that much difference, but good gravy, it did.

I also just moved things around in our home a bit. Although I’ve loved the picture of the horses that hung in our foyer, for some reason it never felt just right. I swapped it out with the teal-medallion-thingy from our breakfast nook, and I’m so much happier (and really like the horse picture in the breakfast room so much more too!)

(See more pictures of our breakfast room HERE – it’s amazing what such a small change can make! Still dreaming of a new light fixture one day but for now this one works.)

If your home needs a little fluffing, you don’t need to spend a bundle. Look at inexpensive ways to make an update (paint helps so much), shop your own home, and just give your home a good look-around with a fresh set of eyes.

And, HAVE COURAGE.

I almost talked myself out of this one, until it dawned on me that it was only paint. If it turned out horribly I could easily re-paint it white ~ so I really only had $3 and 30 more minutes to lose!

So worth it.

If you have a project that you’ve been fearful of, maybe decide to tackle it this weekend. 🙂 You might just be glad you did!

you can see there are still a few spots where we’re going to need to touch up paint, and everything white still needs one more coat, but we’re closer!

I’d love for you to join me over on Pinterest (I love that place!)  If you have a blog and have done a little fluffing in your home, I’d love to see it, so leave your link in the comments section. 1. Love the door color!! Any chance you know the brand/style of your flooring? We’re building and I love it!

    • Hi Maggie! I don’t know off hand and don’t have it here to check, but I’ll look it up and update when I find it – I do love the flooring! 🙂

  2. Hi Laurie,

Love the pop of color on the inside of the door! What a great idea. I also love the plantation blinds on your side windows. I have been searching for these and cannot find them. Do you know where they were purchases?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Emily – thanks so much! We had a local person come do shutters in our house – if you have a blind company (not Budget Blinds – we thought they were priced too high), they should be able to add them for you – we actually priced doing them ourselves but it was cheaper to let the blinds people do it for us!) Hope that helps. 🙂

  3. I had ours painted charcoal last year and loved it so much I did all the other doors as well with cream trim. It looks so high end now.

  4. I guess you don’t have the name of the color? I really love it. Such a difference!

  5. It looks beautiful! Great job!

  6. ReemaReem says:

This looks beautiful but it does not look like you need to be on a budget really. Your home looks spacious and lovely.

  7. What brand of paint did you use ? And whate color ?

  8. Beautiful! I love the little table. Where did you find it?

  9. I read above the colour but I am wondering what type of paint you had to use on a door. I love it, it looks wonderful.

  10. Your door is very pretty! And the addition of the medallion on the wall is spot on…makes the color really pop. Like the lights you’ve chosen as well. Your home is beautiful.
Would you share the color on the wall in your foyer, please? I’m looking for something just like that for our house 🙂
    Thank you.

  11. Do you happen to know the brand/name of the wall paint in the foyer? I am repainting my mother’s home and it’s just what she wants! Thanks!

  12. I love the curtains. Can you share the brand/style?

  13. Beautiful!!!! Was the paint onthe door brushed/rolled on or sprayed?

  14. Jelene williams says:

I’m looking at the colored painted inside doors. I have yellow (light) glazed walls with dark walnut trim. What color wouldn’t paint my door inside.

  15. It is all very pretty. I love the colors and the architectural accents you have added.
Since you said you wanted to replace the light fixture over your breakfast table, I wanted to suggest something…BUT please do not think that I think you need advise. You and your husband have done an amazing job and this is just a suggestion. Why don’t you paint it? It looks like it may be some kind of metal. You could spray paint it and use the same “shades” it already has on it. I think it would show up and look really pretty if you painted it a couple of shades darker than your wall color in the breakfast room. Just my 2 cents. Please know that I love everything you have done with your home and it is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks for the suggestion Kellie! I actually have thought about that – and it’s very tempting. It’s a beautiful fixture but just not the right color – I need to think about that!

  16. Looks great love the colour!

  17. Hi Laurie, Did yall do the sidelight shutters? If so, do you mind sharing the brand and/or cost please? I am looking for something very similar. Thanks!

    • Hi Lisa! We had a local person install them – similar to Budget Blinds but not as pricey (they’ve always quoted us crazy high prices, but he was very reasonable!) If you can find a person in your area who does blinds they should be able to add them for you, and we’ve always found them to be less expensive than doing them ourselves at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Hope that helps! 🙂

  18. Katie Andrews says:

Hi Laurie. I absolutely love those star light fixtures. Remember where you got them???

    Thanks In Advance!!!

  19. Katie Andrews says:

    oops found the link

  20. donna zoltanski says:

    pretty!

  21. Where did you get the shutters on the doors side windows? Love them. Your entry way is beautiful.

  22. Never be afraid of a little paint, it could make a world of difference. And, if you don’t like it, it is just as easy to change. By the way, this looks great to me! And, if the mood strikes you can give red, or yellow or any other color that strikes your fancy a go.

  23. What is the color of your walls? Love!
