Ready for an all-too-random-rambling moment this morning?
My littlest has been struggling some with using “kind” words lately, and yet again this morning I reprimanded her for not speaking nicely to her sister. We’ve been having this talk quite a bit lately, so I (not so calmly) explained that she was in trouble and would be heading to bed early tonight. (She was not happy, and it made for an miserable way to start off the day.)
I left the kitchen for a few minutes, and when I came back, her much-wiser-than-me sister had laid out these two bowls, and explained that if she could fill up the “good” bowl with cotton balls from the “bad” bowl, she would do something special just for her. (She’s thinking we need to all paint our toenails together or said she’d even treat Reagan to a $1 McDonalds Sundae using her own money.) Needless to say, Reagan cheered up, happily did everything she could to be a sweetheart to her sister, and we had a much more pleasant morning.
Just goes to show you really can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
See what my kiddos taught me last week ~ I’m telling you what, if I keep learning from them I just might get this mommying thing figured out by the time they head off to college!
