I’d love to hear how your grocery trip went this week, and if you were able to purchase an item or two to give please take a minute to share that too!

Total Publix bill was around $250. I walked out for $120. Not bad… and thanx for all the matchups and postings. We got a lot of free items this week.
Great job Mitch! So glad you all saved so well … thanks so much for sharing!
Wow! Great job Laurie! Under $25 for over $100 worth of groceries…amazing! I haven’t done that well in a long while, but I enjoy living through you and Shannon each week!
Could you let us know how the Oscar Mayer Pulled Pork is? We don’t care for their other Carving Board meats, but was wondering about this for a quick barbecue pulled pork sandwiches one night. Thanks!
Angela I have to say that it was not very good. There are three of us in my family and none of us cared for it at all. Hope that helps.
Great job! My 9 year old just saw your picture and fussed at me for not getting lunchables, lol! My total today came to $28.75 (pretax) for $143.17 worth! All stocked up on cereal for sure and grabbed a few great deals that we will be able to use on a trip to georgia this weekend
Thanks guys! Amy, notice that I bought six – which means enough for each of my three kids to only fight over them for 2 days…. they love them, but I hardly ever buy them! You did awesome on your trip ~ woot!
Angela – we haven’t tried the Pulled Pork yet…. to be honest it doesn’t look all that appetizing, but I’m hoping I’ll be surprised when we eat it with our free Country Crock Apples!
(We’ll pay $1 for buns and have barbecue sandwiches with apples and probably free cantaloupe… gotta love feeding a family of 5 for $1!)
My store views all coupons, whether manufacturer or store, that are BOGO or get free this when you buy this and that as attaching to ALL items on the coupon. With that being said, i would not be able to use the Publix coupons to get free Pop Tarts when you buy 3 Kelloggs cereals and the $1/3 Target Kelloggs cereal coupons together. While using coupons in this way used to be the norm, I think stores and manufacturers are wising up, with many manufacturers even changing wording on their coupons so that stacking of manufacturer coupons is prohibited by the fine print, such as P&G coupons that say limit one coupon per purchase of products/quantities indictated (where they used to just say limit one coupon per purchase). Several bloggers have been posting about topics such as these lately. Michelle on I heart publix dot com has a post about this topic today. With all that being said, I am sure there are stores that will allow you to use both the store coupons like you did, Laurie, but it definitely will be a YMMV situation as I know the store I shop will not.
I think YMMV on all items at just about all stores – so I definitely agree Mary! The way that my manager explained it to me is that a Publix store coupon and manufacturer coupon are completely separate entities, so I can’t think of any reason that you couldn’t use the B3G1 free Pop Tarts Publix store coupon and $1/3 Manufacturer coupon. (They’re totally separate, so those should be fine.) I *think* that it’s okay to use both the $1/3 Target store and $1/3 Kellogg’s manufacturer coupon, however I can see how that could be a grey area for sure – and if you’re worried about it it wouldn’t be worth a $1.
Coupon policies do always vary, but Publix will receive reimbursement from Kellogg’s on the manufacturer coupons, and most likely on the Advantage Buy coupons. (The Target coupon is a loss for them.) Again, it will vary by store, and if you’re unsure, it’s always worth asking (really, it would only change things by $1 so it wouldn’t be worth using if it’s not okay!)
There’s also a great post here on some of this… it’s dated a bit, but is a good way to look at coupons at Publix especially with Advantage Buy deals~ http://ipreferpublix.blogspot.com/2010/01/ive-been-thinking.html
Thanks for pointing that out Mary!
I’m sorry if I didn’t clarify well enough. I wasn’t talking about combining manufacturer and Publix Kellogg’s coupons. I was talking about the Target and Publix kellogg’s coupons. I do understand the $1/3 Target coupon “attaches” to the cereal and the Publix coupon “attaches” to the PopTarts and that a manufacturer coupon could still even be used on all those products, I was just referring to using both the Target and Publix coupons on the three boxes of cereal as many coupons like those are now viewed as attaching to all items on the coupon and the store where I shop would not have let me use those like you were able to.
I can definitely see what you’re saying, and just went back and looked over the scenarios on the Kellogg’s to try to figure it out again. (It even overwhelms me!)
It will definitely vary by area, and while I know my store allows it, I wouldn’t want to promote it or do it myself if it’s unethical (I know lots of stores will “allow” unethical coupon practices, but it’s not worth it to me either way!) I’m on the fence on this one … the next time I see my manager I’m going to see what he thinks! (He’ll probably think I’m nuts… )
I am taking a few weeks off from shopping all the deals, so I ran in for produce (apples, clementines, celery, and carrots), eggs, and a Diet Coke. All the essentials
I used a $0.55/2 egg Q, a free-Coke-product Q, and a Cuties Q and paid $17.56 (saved only $4.40, but I got what I needed for less than my budget)!
I cannot bring myself to buy produce from Walmart. It is typically cheaper, but it never tastes as good nor lasts as long, so I just can’t do it.
I don’t buy much produce at Walmart either (I hardly ever go there!) but my son and I had to pick up things he needed for school, and the produce wasn’t bad… it’s a new store so still fairly nice! We grabbed apples and bananas, plus more apples (the ones that are pre-cut ~ my daughter loves those), and the bag of pre-cut apples were WELL worth it – we paid $4.49 for the bag and all 3 kids have had enough in their lunches all week long. I *might* go back again just for those!)
You did great on the rest of your budget … I think sometimes just getting what we need and not what the deals are can save a ton! (And so glad I’m not the only who thinks Diet Coke is an essential….)
Hey,
I just wanted to let everyone know about the Oscar Mayer pulled pork. I had my son pick this up at the store when he went a few days ago. I would have gotten another one besides the pork (mostly because it doesn’t look to appetizing). I told him this, but he came back with the pork. So, I cut off any fat and shredded the pieces smaller with a quick zip in my small food processor. I added barbecue sauce (from my stock pile of free bbcue sauces). I was pleasantly surpised. It tasted as good as the Lloyd’s barbecue, if not better since I got to pick which sauce to use. My advice is to do what I did and trim any fat and shred or dice it before putting sauce in. My family liked it a lot.
Thanks so much for sharing Debra – so glad you all enjoyed it b/c I think it’s what’s for dinner at our house tonight… thanks for the tips!
GREAT job spending those coupons! And thanks for the match-ups!
