  • Sharebar

Here’s what I grabbed at Publix this week for $29.90 plus tax, while saving $100.68. I had $40 in my grocery envelope to spend so I was a little stressed to not go over my budget. . . phew I just made it but the deals were great! There were a few items like Splenda and the Dole and Libby’s fruit that I wanted to grab to donate. My kids have loved having the fresh fruit in their lunches, so I used my overage from buying vitamins as well as my $5/50 Kroger Coupon to make up for those.  This trip took me about 30-35 minutes to prepare for.

Shannon, my question sounds confusing now that I’m reading it, but if you can follow, please help me understand…

The prices you have listed – are they your cost after coupon? And is that the total cost for all items? For example:

“Bought 3 Pepperidge Farms Garlic Bread $1.45

used (3)  $0.50/1 Pepperidge Farm Frozen Bread or Rolls printable”

Is the $1.45 the cost per item before your coupon doubled or after double coupon? Or is this your total cost for all 3 boxes of bread after doubled coupons applied?

I would like to plan my trip using some of your scenarios, but I’m not seeing how your pretax total was $29.90.  Plus, I don’t understand how the vitamins were a moneymaker. Thanks for your help.

  2. Shannon says:

Hey Angela! It is no problem explaining– The prices are the prices I paid is the sale price before coupons. So i.e. the Pepperidge Farms Bread is $1.45 I bought 3 I used (3) $.50/1 Pepperidge Farms Coupons we double here in North Alabama so it is $1.00 off so the total price is $.45 (after coupon) each or $1.35 (after coupon) for 3. The Sundown Vitamins I forgot to add the $5/2 Green Advantage Buy Ad sorry about that. I just added it! So in that case the vitamins were $3.29 I used (2) $2/1 Sundown Vitamin stacked with $5/2 GAB Coupon $6.58 is the total for both used $5/2 GAB and (2) $2/1 Manufacturer which gave me $2.32 overage. Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions! Good luck!

Thanks Shannon! I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I had forgotten about the $5/2 Green Advantage Flyer Publix coupon also! I’m glad for the reminder – tomorrow’s the the day!

  3. Melissa says:

Did you do more than one transaction since the Sundown $2 printable is limited to one per transaction?

    • Shannon says:

Hey Melissa! I did not, honestly I did not see that in the fine lines. Sorry… :( So it was one transaction.

      • Laurie says:

I *think* our store allows us to do more than one per transaction ~ at least I know that has been the case before with those coupons (after checking with the management…) It could have changed ~ it’s been awhile since I’ve used them!

        • Melissa says:

It’s not the store coupon, the manufacturer’s printable says only one per transaction.

          • Shannon says:

Hey Melissa! Yes our store really has never said anything. I honestly did not see it. I wouldn’t use more than 2 in one transaction though. It will vary by store. You can always ask your manager about it. I ask my manager questions all the time when it comes to ethics, I am always so paranoid. :)

  4. Shannon says:

No problem at all Angela! The next GAB isn’t all that exciting either…. :(
