Apple Brownies With Brown Sugar Frosting

  • SumoMe

I made these Apple Brownies with Brown Sugar Frosting over the weekend, and they were so simple and just delicious! ย The recipe is very similar to our absolute favorite Southern Living Apple Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, but I needed a recipe that didn’t call for Cream Cheese (we were completely out, and I didn’t want to have to head to the store!)

If you have a few apples just begging to be used up, this is such a yummy way to enjoy them. Let me know what you think if you have a chance to try them out!

Apple Brownies With Brown Sugar Frosting

  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 large apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

  1. Mix all ingredients together. Bake in 9x13 baking pan at 350 for 45 minutes. Cool completely and frost with Brown Sugar Frosting.

Brown Sugar Frosting

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  1. Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add in milk and brown sugar, and boil for one minute.
  2. Remove from heat, and add in 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Then add in vanilla and remaining sugar, and use a little more milk if icing is too thick.

  1. I just finished making this absolutely moist dessert and even before my husband can have some, I think you’re going to be his new best friend! He loves anything and everything apple and he’s lactose intolerant so this is perfect for him. I used almond milk for the frosting. I’m sorry to say this but I’m glad you didn’t have cream cheese ๐Ÿ™‚ ! Thank you! I always look forward to seeing what you’ve come up with next.
