I’ve struggled for years to inspire my kids to put their backpacks where they go. (Anyone else struggle with this one?) There are hooks in our coat closet that the kids can reach, but they’re out of the way, and just not big enough for each kids backpacks. So, after seeing one too many cute ideas on Pinterest for how to organize those entryways, I finally did a little fluffing up at our house.
I didn’t think that $23 would make such a difference, but it really is so much better! Here’s what I purchased:
- Three “fancy” hooks for $2 each (on sale 50% off at Hobby Lobby)
- A cute pillow to brighten up our worn out bench (the pillow was $8 on sale 50% off, and the bench was a hand-me-down from my mother-in-law that we had already painted black)
- A basket that actually fit underneath the bench instead of one that was way too big. (The basket was $9 after my 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon!)
Word to the wise: if you’re going to hang hooks for backpacks, be sure to find the studs in your wall using a stud finder before drilling the holes. My kids spent at least an hour making sure those studs were just in the right place!
Here’s the before . . . (yikes! That Chex cereal has been up there forever because I’ve been meaning to take it to my mother-in-law because it’s gluten free. . . I finally gave up and donated it!)
And the after . . .
I’d love for you to join me over on Pinterest (I love that place!) If you have a blog and have done a little fluffing in your home, I’d love to see it, so leave your link in the comments section. Also, if there’s a craft you’ve seen on a website that you’re hoping to make, feel free to share that link as well (I’m always looking for new ideas!)
