5 Minute Challenge – Clean your Purse!

I got in the car this morning, was missing my keys (of course), and started digging through my DISASTROUS purse!  Oh my goodness, where on earth do those gunkies in there come from???   (Yes, please go ahead and say “your children!!!!”)  It’s a scary place in that purse of mine – I even found 3 mismatched socks!!!  Socks??!!   (I know that one day I’ll have a clean purse but no kids around to put socks in it . . . is it completely wrong if I just for a moment consider what a fabulous day that will be?)

Well if your purse looks like mine, go ahead and set your timer for just FIVE MINUTES to clean it out!  Set aside any receipts that need to head off for a rebate, throw away any crusty crumblies, wash any SOCKS (completely unbelievable!), and clean it up!  When you’re finished leave a comment so that I can add you to the $10 Target Gift Card Giveaway, and if you really love me please let me know the grossest find lurking in that pocketbook of yours (misery loves company, you know!)

(And by the way, if your purse is perfectly tidy, I’m sending my three year old . . . by plane if need be . . . directly to you this afternoon so she can mess it up for you!)

I don’t even have the excuse of little kids anymore, but, besides random crumbs, I found a chick-fil-a mayonnaise packet… haven’t been there in almost 2 months! Also, a smooshed splenda packet, and a sample Listerine whitening strip…. Heaven knows when I picked THAT up!

  2. YOY says:

seriously, the grandkids have nothing to do with it ! I have to dump the whole huge thing each week and regroup, my whole daily life is in that thing ! I had a half of the sample Atkins bar stashed in there “just in case” and it got a little melty yesterday

I think I had about a hundred Cheerios in the bottom of mine…those “snack trap” things are NOT spillproof! I think I am going to throw the whole thing in the wash since it is nice and emptied out now.

I try to clean out my purse at least once a week, if not, I get so frustrated when I can’t find stuff! I usually find tons of reciepts, gum wrappers, etc. But today I found my one year old’s sandals, haha!!

done! purse is clean! i even got a new (very cheap but cute) wallet! my old one was covered in juice stains. soooo not cool. okay, worst thing i ever found in my purse… a drumstick! yes, chicken! lol! my almost 2 yr old decided she was done eating and put the half eaten drumstick in my purse. i honestly couldn’t do anything but laugh the next morning when i found it.

I happen to be digging in my purse for a Staples receipt I needed for a rebate when I just read this on your blog! Yea! I found the receipt and a few other receipts which were blank – faded ink. My prize: melted crayon!

I keep mine pretty clean all the time so it is done. Tell me what to to meet the plane to pick up your 3 year old. I would love it.

    • Laurie says:

:) She would love it too Kelly! (She’s a MESS, but pretty darn cute! You wouldn’t keep her long though, she’d probably Pledge all your wood floors like she did mine yesterday!!!

  9. Molly says:

Did it! I also had a sock in mine, but the bad thing was that it was mine!! How in the world did it get in there? I also had a Chick FilA mayo packet!! That is hilarious!

  10. Jennifer m says:

I had about 20 random coupons stuck in there (shopping trips where they were out of the item) a pacifier (my daughter decided she didn’t like them anymore about 4 months ago), a rattle, and a cough drop with no wrapper. Nor too bad really.

  11. Stephani says:

Did it!! But all I really found was a pen that had exploded inside my purse =[

  12. April says:

Mine was gross! I found 2 have eaten Publix cookies. My daughter has to “save” half of her cookie everytime we go there. Also, my son’s mouth piece for football….yuck boys germs!

  13. ferchi says:

in mines, I found: pacifiers, crayons( most the times melted, I live in SE Florida, so HOT!),small water bottles,( empty),papers, little papers ,and more papers, coupons, hair clips, but never money.

  14. Heather says:

I just cleaned mine out & found my a policeman, fireman, lego man (my son will be excited at the re-found toys!)…and part of a pop tart that I guess someone was saving for later, yum!

  15. bridget says:

I have a tiny purse that doesn’t fit much. I have learned from the past. Although I did find where it looks like pepto bismal was dropped all over it and lots of random coupons.

  16. Kailin says:

I’m with Bridget–my purse is tiny and fits a wallet, notebook & pen, camera, chapstick, and my phone. I did dump it out to get the little fuzzies out of the bottom, though. Send over the 3yo!
